The original house that stood here dated from the mid 1800’s. It had a large tree in its yard which fell on the house during a storm. The house was rebuilt on its original foundation.
This house represents some of the problems in dating an old house. The house appears on mid 1800 maps of Hebron Center and looks like the house that once stood here, but was constructed at a later date.
Think about it
If your home were destroyed by an act of nature, would you rebuild it exactly as it was or would you choose a different style? Why or why not?
