This house was built in the Victorian shingle style that became fashionable in the 1870’s and 1880’s. This style had high pitch roofs, decorative trim, porches and widows placed side by side.
Although modest in scale, this uses decorative elements to make it fashionable. Although it has a gable end to the street, it breaks out of the traditional rectangular form by having a wing set at right angles to the main part of the house.
