Veterans Park

Over the centuries, Hebron people have fought in many wars. African Americans and Indigenous People from Hebron are known to have fought in the French and Indian War (1753-1763), Revolutionary War (1775-1783), and Civil War (1861-1865).
By the late 1800’s most African Americans who were skilled farmers had migrated out of Hebron. Thus, no African Americans from Hebron participated in the Spanish American War, World War I or World War II. There is currently no monument to African Americans or Indigenous veterans in Hebron.
Think about it
Today, veterans are usually thought of as having participated in WW I or WWII or later wars with Memorial Day and Veterans’ Day set aside to honor them.
